Marc VandenBerg started working glass in 1993 and has been a glassblower at Greenfield Village since 1998. Earning several scholarships to acclaimed schools including Pilchuck Glass School, he has been fortunate studying and working with many prominent artists. Marc exhibits work nationally, teaches and demonstrates internationally. He is also a talented lampworker with a personal studio at his home. Marc’s work is published in several books including 500 Glass Objects from Lark Books and he has been honored as Best of Michigan Artists in 2007.
   
Philip Yamron has been working with hot glass since 1998 and joined the glass shop team in 2003. Glassblowing started out as just a hobby for Philip but quickly developed into a passion. This passion led him to change direction and pursue glass blowing not only as a creative outlet but as a career. “I have spent many years and countless hours training with this amazing material. I truly hope that my love of glass and deep devotion to this art comes through in my work and inspires others to follow what they love to do." Before coming to the Greenfield Village glass shop, Philip trained with many glass artists, as well as teaching glassblowing at other private studios.

   
Josh Wojick has been working with glass since 1998. He studied art and design at the College for Creative Studies, where he earned his B.F.A. in Crafts with a concentration in glass. He also received a full scholarship in 2001 to attend the Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington. His personal work involves the use of both natural and man-made materials, such as steel, wood, stone, incorporated with solid sculpted and blown glass. In addition to working in Greenfield Village as a glassblower, he currently teaches at the Glass Academy in Dearborn, Michigan.



Ryan Forrey began working with clay in 1987 and went on to earn a BFA in ceramic art from Alfred University in Alfred, New York. Ryan began working in Liberty Craftworks in 1996 as an apprentice in the Pottery Shop and soon advanced to potter through his design and production of a line of mochaware. In 2001, Ryan built our small gas-fired kiln, and in 2004 he led the design of the wood-fired kiln adjacent to the Pottery Shop.
   

Sarah Gelsanliter started working with clay in 1993 and has been a potter at the Greenfield Village Pottery Shop since 2000. She studied ceramics at Penland School of Crafts in Penland, North Carolina and at Denison University in Granville, Ohio while working on her BA degree. She received additional training as an apprentice to wood-firing potter John Theis in Frederic, Maryland. Sarah develops the molds for our tilemaking operation and throws most items, including the unique ring jugs. Sarah also teaches pottery classes and workshops at Pewabic Pottery and the Ann Arbor Art Center.

   
Melinda Mercer has been working with clay since 1994. She has a BFA in ceramics from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. Melinda learned historical pottery methods while a potter at Hale Farm and Village and as intern at the Greenfield Village Pottery Shop. She also gained experience with early 20th-centruy glazing techniques while working for Motawi Tileworks in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Melinda has been a full-time potter at Greenfield Village since 2004 and teaches pottery classes at the Greenfield Village Pottery Shop.
