More than a century ago, Henry Ford revolutionized the world with the Model T. Quite literally, it changed the way we live. But what was life like before the automobile and how did life change after Roadside America “adopted” the automobile? Our vast transportation collections and exhibits includes trains, carriages, cars and related artifacts. Engaging resources will help your students see how the everyday choices we have made since the Industrial Revolution affected the movement of goods and people, the economy, the environment and our lifestyles. Explore the positive and negative impacts of transportation systems and gain new insight into the social impact of these transportation innovations. Explore the many ways this topic can enhance your students’ learning.

Henry’s Assembly Line
GUIDED ACTIVITY
What better way to learn about an assembly line than to work on one? In this hands-on 20-minute program, your students will work together to assemble a miniature wooden Model T using the station and moving assembly line methods.

GUIDED ACTIVITY

Grab a wrench and join in the fun as we celebrate Henry Ford’s Model T! Students will gain new perspective about Henry Ford and the car that changed the world as they assist in the assembly of an authentic Model T. Spend as much or as little time as you want in this one-of-a-kind activity led by experienced presenters.

LITERACY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM

Equip your students with two of the necessities for success: a love for reading and inspiration to be someone great! Our new literacy and history enhancement program, Reading Inspiration, brings the story of Henry Ford’s quest to build a car for the masses to life using fiction, nonfiction, digital images and engaging hands-on activities. The program reinforces grade-specific vocabulary, spelling, reading and comprehension, writing and design thinking skills. It also includes interdisciplinary curriculum connections tips, supplemental high-frequency and age-appropriate words and extension activities. Inspired by the national model Read and Connect.

LITERACY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM

Learn about Henry Ford’s “alphabet cars” that led to his great innovation, the Model T. Employing immersive vocabulary recognition activities through storytime and hands-on activities, younger children will enhance their literacy skills and make relevant connections between the past and present.
