Give them the opportunity to imagine, explore and live history
Our weeklong day camps invite kids to plunge into America’s premier camp experience with hands-on and minds-on activities guaranteed to fuel their interest and fire their imaginations. Each of the seven grade-specific levels, from 2nd through 8th grade, has its own distinctive theme and unique experience.

Discovery Camp-Tech
Discovery Camp is going high tech this summer! In partnership with The Henry Ford Academy’s Robotics Club– our own high school - we will offer a new camp experience that delves into the world of robotics. As an introduction to robotic control systems campers will create a timer out of household materials. Campers will then create and race dragsters to study velocity, and they will visit the Museum’s Automobile in American Life to learn about auto industry design. Using Lego Mindstorm robotic kits and laptop computers campers will work as teams to simulate the DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) robotic challenge. Each team will design and program a robot that must respond to a simulated rescue task. Campers will end their week by filming their robots in action.

Just like Discovery Camp, Discovery Camp – Tech is a week-long camp. It runs 9am – 4pm daily with extended care offered for an additional fee from 7am – 9am and again from 4pm – 6pm. The camp includes a Discovery Camp T-shirt, afternoon snack, special tours, a lot of hands-on, minds-on funs and a few surprises!

Camps include an overnight stay with special evening activities. 7th and 8th grade camps include accommodations in our separate, chaperoned dormitory rooms.
