Sean Casey & his Tornado Intercept Vehicle (TIV)

Maker Faire Detroit gets twisted with Storm Chaser’s star and Tornado Alley, director Sean Casey and his Tornado Intercept Vehicle.  Meet Sean and explore the TIV2, as it is known, a military style armored tripod on wheels.   Weighing 14,000 pounds with a top speed of over 100 mph – it’s one wicked ride, but still a little sluggish if you’re being chased by an EF5 tornado!  Sean will be presenting throughout both days of Maker Faire.  Additionally, a sneak preview of Tornado Alley will be playing in The Henry Ford IMAX Theatre throughout the event.

Internet ticket sales will be available through Midnight, Thursday, July 29th.  After Thursday, advance tickets may be purchased through our Call Center, 313.982.6001.

Please note: same day purchases for Maker Faire tickets are only available on site at our cashier locations. Tickets are available at all ticketing locations: the IMAX lobby, the Greenfield Village ticket building, the Museum Clocktower entrance and the Maker Faire Admission gate near the Automotive Hall of Fame.

Wired Magazine – Geek Dad blog: “With the museum as a fitting backdrop to the Faire, hundreds of makers came out to share their creations to thousands of patrons of DIY culture. … Wherever you looked there were demonstrations of things made and areas where you could sit down and be shown how to make your own. The Faire was as much about the Makers as it was about how to be a maker.” (read more)

Xconomy Detroit: “…I personally reveled in what is really happening today in terms of using available technology and tools to create experimental contraptions. While they may or may not have practical use, these machines still show that entrepreneurship is alive and well—and has a future— in Detroit.” (read more)
